Palo Alto, CA – December 1, 2010 – The Radicati Group, Inc.’s latest study, “Business User Survey, 2010,” examines the use of a broad set of email, IM, Social Networks and other technologies in both business and consumer contexts.

On average, business users send 33 email messages per day, and receive approximately 72 email messages per day in 2010, an average of 14 emails per day include attachments. Business Social Networks have found greater penetration with business users over the past year, with the broad majority of survey respondents indicating that they use Business Social Networks in the workplace. However, only 20% of respondents felt that the use of Social Networking sites at work has reduced the amount of email they send and received.

Spam continues to be a problem, with business users indicating that of 19% of emails they receive in their inbox is spam in 2010.

Instant Messaging is also growing in popularity with business users, with 74% of survey respondents indicating that their company has a company-sanctioned IM solution for all employees to use.
